Captain Grakkthar Iceblood was born into a rich family. His Grandfather had been a great General of the Horde and advisor to Thrall himself. It was natrually assumed that Grakkthar's father would have followed in his fathers footsteps to become a great military man, however after showing neither skill nor intrest during his training he was at risk of being expelled from the army.
Drek'thar, who owed Grakkthar's Grandfather his life, took Grakk's father into the frostwolf clans army and made sure he was looked after in exchange for staying out of the way.
Grakthar's mother was a commoner and his father had no intension of looking after her or his new son, until that is Drek'thar found out and forced him to stay comited and raise his son.
Grakkthar's father put Grakk to work down a mine from a very young age, as he wanted nothing to do with his son. Grakk, being young and naive, assumed that this was simply his father "The mighty Frostwolf Captain" traning him. It is this early life style that caused Grakk to grow so broad and muscular and possibly the reason he's shorter than most Orcs. Grakkthar's father was infact not a "mighty" Captain, but infact only a token Captain of a holding battalion (A battalion used to hold exess troops or injured troops, never actually used in combat). He was there simply to keep him out of trouble.
For years Grakk worked down that mine, and developed a deep loathing of his father and those who were rewarded for doing nothing.
Grakk's mother hated her partner, he was un-faithful and frequently abused her. It was she who informed Drek'thar of what Grakkthar's father was doing to him. As a result Drek'thar puplicaly humiliated Grakkthar's father infront of all his men.
This outraged Grakk's father to the point where he beat his partner to death, and although the official report stated that "She was killed by thugs, who broke into her home, and then beat her to death when she challenged them". Everyone knew that Grakkthar's father had killed her, and that the army simply did not want the humiliation of people thinking a captain beat his partner to death.
Drek'Thar took Grakk out of the mines and started his military training, although late in starting the training he was, due to his mining days, able to train longer and at greater pace than his fellow students. He quickly finished his weapons training, top of his class, and began his officer training.
He proved to be an exeptional leader of men and he worked well under pressure. However, against his will, Drek'thar forced him to become a Lieutenant in his fathers unit. He knew that he would never advance through the ranks while he was still stuck in his fathers unit.
Until the day finally came when Grakkthar's unit was forced to take to the field due to an overwhelming attack from the stormpike forces. Grakkthar had spend all his time training the men and drilling them in combat scenarios, for this this they hated him, but they respected and trusted him.
This battle was the first Grakkthar's father had ever seen, and he did not share his sons abilty to handle pressure. Grakkthar was usually able to stop him before any of the men carried out him ridiculous orders, however Grakkthar had to lead a group of men to attack the flank of an enemy and on his return he discovered his father had lead a suicide attack straight into the main body of the enemy.
He deployed what few men he had left to form a defence for when the enemy advanced on his posistion. He could hear the screams of his men dieing and he filled with hatred for his father and his ignorance. A single figure immerged from the chaos, it was Grakk's father, who had not a single scratch or spec of blood anywhere on him.
He had a look of terror in his eyes and was screaming hysterically. He ran to Grakkthar and collapsed at his feet. Weeping. it was in this moment that Grakk finally realised how pathetic his father was. He ordered two men to drag his father to the back of the lines and pulled back what men where left of those his father had sent to die.
Grakkthars father was taken before Drek'thar himself and accused of being a coward and of abandoning his men. Grakkthars father tried every excuse, he even blamed the whole affair on Grakk, (which got him a punch across the jaw from Drek'thar) but in the end he was found guilty and stripped of his title.
Grakk's military career continued well and he was given command of his own unit and rose to the rank of Captain.
Grakkthar's grandfather had accumulated a great deal of wealth due to his title, and when he passed away this was passed on to Grakkthars father. When Grakkthar was given leave he asked to visit his grandfathers land and home, only to discover that his father had spend and gambled it all away.
Grakkthar hunted his father down and took his revenge for all the years of beatings when he was a child...
Grakkthar continued to train his unit until they were given the title of "Elites". But soon the hordes priorities changed. Soldiers were needed for a Horde Forlorn hope into Vrykul territory and "The Icebloods" were chosen to be the first unit it.
Early one morning in Northrend the Icebloods where ambushed by the scourge, most of the men got out alive due to Captain Grakkthar Icebloods valliant final stand. He refused to abandon his men and was finally brought down attempting to rescue an injured soldier.
Grakkthar was reborn into the service of The Lich King where he became a Death Knight of the scourge.
Whilst under The Lich Kings influence Grakkthar commited many attrocities and slaughterd many innocent men women and children. These actions haunt him to this day.
After breaking free from The Lich Kings hold, Grakkthar re-joined the Frostwolf clan and re-built his old unit. However just as it he was re-gaining his status in the frostwolf clan his unit was once again called upon to battle the enemies of the horde. This time however Grakkthar was not permitted to go with them.
And so Grakkthar is now a captain without a unit, and is attempting to earn his Knighthood and re-deem his Families name from his Fathers disgrace.
Oh thank god that is done, this was painfull to write and took fucking hours.
You may notice that this gets less detailed and worse the further down you go, that is because I lost the will to live about half way through
P.S. If anyone can think of a name for Grakks father and Grandfather I would appreciate it.
